Dante LICENSED THERAPY DOG

Dante

LICENSED THERAPY DOG

Dante is a seven-year-old Shih Tzu, certified therapy dog, and Lindsay’s canine co-therapist. Lindsay found Dante when she rescued him at 10 weeks old from a motel six in Aurora, Colorado. They have been inseparable since. Following that, Dante went on to pass the Canine Good Citizen and Professional Therapy Dog of Colorado tests, working alongside Lindsay to support adolescent mental health in the child welfare and foster care system.

As a therapy dog, Dante partners with Lindsay to support clients in their mental health and healing journey. Sessions with Dante look different than traditional talk therapy, involving experiential modalities and out of the box creative therapeutic interventions, such as play, games, puzzles, and obstacle courses. He works well with both children and adolescents, especially those who are animal lovers. Dante’s training and skill set allows him to emotionally attune to others, sensing when clients are anxious or depressed. Playful, gentle, and kind, he cannot resist brightening up someone’s day with a well-timed lick or a big toothy smile. Dante enjoys ending a long work day, which often consists of cuddles, zoomies, and learning new tricks, with a Starbucks Puppacino.
